YOUR DATA, EXPLAINED

Privacy & your downloads.

No account is needed. This page explains what happens to your link, who processes it, and what we keep temporarily.

When you submit a link

Side A sends the YouTube video link to Samplecut’s API to prepare the audio. Our server fetches the resulting MP3, checks its format and length, and makes a temporary copy available for your preview and download.

What Samplecut receives

We send the video link, requested audio format, and our service name. We do not forward your browser cookies or visitor IP address. Samplecut receives our server’s network address and applies its own processing, logging, and retention practices. Read Samplecut’s privacy policy for those details.

Your session cookie

Side A uses an essential session cookie to restrict each job and file to the browser session that requested it. It is not an account or an advertising identifier. Blocking this cookie prevents conversions and access to your files.

Temporary files and access records

We temporarily store your MP3, a compact waveform when you open the clip editor, and a small access record containing a hash of the session identifier, the job identifier, title, filename, duration, file size and creation time. This lets completed previews and downloads keep working after a service restart. We do not store your original session token in this record, and there is no download-history page or user database.

A daily cleanup removes files and their access records once they are at least 24 hours old, normally within 24–48 hours. Active transfers are skipped until a later cleanup. Save your MP3 to your device; temporary links are not permanent storage. Files saved to your device remain until you delete them.

Clips and WAV exports

Waveforms, clips and WAV files are prepared from the temporary MP3 on our server, without sending another request to Samplecut. Clip and WAV exports are streamed to your browser rather than retained as additional audio files. Exports go directly to your browser’s downloader. WAV files use more bandwidth than MP3 files.

Security logs and limits

Our hosting server processes IP addresses and request information to deliver pages, apply usage limits and investigate errors or abuse. Server access logs may contain your IP address, request path, time, browser information and response status. These operational logs are separate from temporary audio files; the audio cleanup schedule does not apply to them.

Aggregate usage statistics

We keep hourly totals of page requests, sessions created, audio preparation, editor requests, completed server transfers, errors and limit responses for up to 90 days. These counters contain no video links, filenames, IP addresses, session identifiers or individual browsing histories. They help us understand usage and reliability. Server delivery does not prove that a file was saved or listened to.

Recent conversion links

For service diagnostics, we also keep the video links and conversion outcomes for the latest 100 accepted conversions, for up to 7 days. We keep only the YouTube video ID, submission time and processing status, linked by an internal conversion reference. Tracking parameters are removed. This list is accessible only through our private administration dashboard and is not linked to visitor IP addresses or browser sessions.

Fonts and analytics

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to request them. Side A does not include advertising scripts or analytics trackers. These statements describe our site; third-party services have their own privacy practices.

Your choices

Use only video links you have permission to process. You can clear this site’s cookies in your browser, which removes access through that session but does not immediately delete server files. Temporary files are removed by the cleanup schedule above. Requests about information retained by Samplecut can be made through the contact details in its privacy policy.

Respect the original work

Only download audio you own or have permission to use. Do not use Side A to bypass access restrictions, copy protection, or sign-in requirements.
